Artist's Description
This 59-year-old western lowland Gorilla was sitting down for hours just waiting for his family to come back the fourth-oldest gorilla in the world In recent days, Choomba's health had started declining and she was under watch by the Atlanta zoo's Animal Care and Veterinary Teams. She suffered from advanced arthritis and other conditions related to her old age.
Because of her declining health, poor prognosis, and discomfort, the zoo chose to euthanize Choomba on Thursday.
